GAME SUMMARY
A 3D platformer prototype where failure makes you stronger.
Falling into lava? You don’t die—you ascend.
Each ascension returns you to the Resurrection Pool stronger, larger, faster, and more capable of traversing the course as a result.
What once punished you becomes a warmup, and before you know it you've made it to the Transcendence Altar. But how fast can you get there?
Speedrun it, break it, and discover how clean your run can really be.
Core Loop
Reach the Altar at the end as fast as possible.
Your final time and ascension count are recorded:
- Fast time, low ascensions = clean execution
- High ascensions = earned power scaling
There is no failure state. Only progression.
ASCENSION = POWER
Each fall makes you stronger:
- Start — Small, slow, precise movement required
- After a few ascensions — Increased speed and jump distance
- 3 ascensions — Dash unlocks (optional for completion)
- 4+ ascensions — Fully powered traversal state
Even at max power, you can still fall—you simply stop scaling. The timer never stops. Only the Altar ends the run.
Movement
- Double Jump — always available
- Wall Bounce — jump into walls for extra height
- Dash — unlocks at 3 ascensions (not required for completion)

About This Build
This is a game jam prototype / vertical slice, built in ~20 hours of planning and production during a 48-hour jam.
Originally designed as a larger concept featuring combat and enemies that became easier as you ascended (power fantasy loop). Due to time constraints, combat was cut—leaving a focused traversal prototype centered on movement scaling and speedrunning routes.
A single course. One loop. Multiple ways to master it and transcend.
Development Notes
- Solo developer (programmer-focused; not an artist)
- Built using Unreal Engine third-person template
- Uses placeholder/free assets (Fab marketplace)
- Some audio is original; most is CC0/Freesound-sourced and edited into cues
- Experimental PSX / early 2000s visual style using post-processing

Controls and full design notes are included in the downloadable .zip text file and shown in-game (keyboard + gamepad supported).
Install Instructions
- Download the
.zip - Extract all files (do not run from inside zip)
- Run
I_Am_Inevitable.exe
If Windows SmartScreen appears:
- Click More info
- Then Run anyway
This is normal for unsigned indie Unreal Engine builds.

The .txt notepad documentation file is in the downloadable .ZIP folder and contains CONTROLS as well as the game design outline/description.
DOWNLOAD & INSTALL
- Download the .zip
- Extract all files to a folder (don't run from inside the zip)
- Run I_Am_Inevitable.exe
